<p>Let me tell you something clearly: This does NOT define your child. This does NOT define you as a parent.</p>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There was a time, not long ago, when someone picked up by immigration had the right to ask for bond. A hearing. A chance to stand before a judge. An opportunity to show they aren&#39;t a flight risk or a danger.</p>
<p>Now? We&#39;re seeing more and more people held without bond at all. No hearing. No opportunity. Just detention.</p>
<p>That&#39;s not how due process is supposed to work in this country.</p>
<h2>Not Automatic</h2>
<p>Detention without bond should not be automatic. It should not be the default. And it should not ignore the individual facts of someone&#39;s life. How long they&#39;ve lived here. Their family ties. Their work history. Their lack of criminal record.</p>
